Overexposure to Sun can Cause Skin Cancer
Overexposure to sun can be harmful and can cause skin cancer. Harmful UV rays from the sun are the main cause of skin cancer. The risk of skin cancer depends on the skin type and its color. People with very fair complexion are highly sensitive to UV and this puts them to an increased risk to skin cancer whereas people with darker complexion have lesser risk of skin cancer. Skin cancer in people who have dark complexion is often identified at a later stage.
Many people with vitiligo have misconceptions that vitiligo is precancerous condition but that’s not true. Skin of vitiligo patients due to loss of pigment becomes more sensitive to sun rays that have harmful UV radiations. This increases their chances of getting skin cancer. People with vitiligo and all other people should take precautions before going under sun like using sun screen lotions.
Wrinkles and age spots on our face that we think as normal part of aging are caused by excessive exposure to sun. Skin cancer, benign tumors, fine & coarse wrinkles, freckles, mottled pigmentation, sallowness, telangiectasias, and elastosis are some of the main damages caused by overexposure to sun. So everybody should try to avoid extreme exposure to sun as it is harmful to skin.
